DESCRIPTION

Vitamin K₃ (menadione sodium bisulfite) is the synthetic, water soluble analogue of vitamin K that can be converted to K₂ in the intestine. Enzymes in mammalian and avian tissues are also capable of converting menadione to the active forms of vitamin K. Vitamin K is involved in blood clotting process and plays an important role in bone formation. It is best known for its role in helping blood coagulation during intestinal parasitic infections such as coccidiosis, and as an antagonist for poisoning (e.g., treatment with sulfonamides) in poultry, pigs, calves, cattle, goats and sheep. Vitamin K also plays an important role in bone health.

 

INDICATIONS

VETKOVIT K₃ 25% WSP is indicated for the treatment and prevention of haemorrhages associated with vitamin K deficiency such as Gumboro, Coccidia, Coli, debeaking, intestinal parasites, and as an antagonist for poisoning (e.g., treatment with sulfonamides) in poultry, calves, cattle, goats and sheep. VETKOVIT K₃ 25% WSP is also used for the control of stress caused by viral and bacterial respiratory diseases and gastro-enteric infections, stress conditions due to vaccination, debeaking, transporting, rehousing, changes of feed and weather. In layers, VETKOVIT K₃ 25% WSP is used to prevent the blood spot occurrence in eggs and in breeders, it reduces the mortality rate either in the embryonic stage or in the newly hatched chicks. In fishes VETKOVIT K₃ 25% WSP reduces embryonic mortality and increases the hatchability rate.

 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

For oral administration via feed, milk or drinking water.

Poultry                                         : 25 g per 1,000 liters of drinking water for 5 days.

Cattle, calves, sheep, goats      : 0.5 g per 30 kg body weight daily for 7 days.

Fishes                                           : 25 g per 1,000 kg of feed.

Mixed with feed, VETKOVIT K₃ 25% WSP should be used immediately. Mixed with milk replacer, the product should be used within 12 hours. Medicated drinking water should be used within 12 hours.

STORAGE

Store in a dry and dark place between 8 °C and 25 °C.

Store in closed packing.

Keep away from children.
